Pat Summitt was the coach of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers for 38 years and she is the holds the most wins in the NCAA for both men and women. In 2009, she gained her 1,000th win and bumped her salary from $8,900 to $1 million dollars a season, she became the first women's head coach to receive this. In 2011 she was diagnosed with early onset dementia (Alzheimer's) at the age of 59. She led her team to eight NCAA championship wins, and 32 Conference titles. She finished her season in 2012 with an overall record of 1,098-208. She received the Maggie Dixon Courage award, as well as many other awards, for her courage in finishing her season with the diagnosis of dementia.
